PROPS TO SEÑORITA CONGER FOR CREATING THIS LIST OF RESOURCES. ESMIS WILL ADD TO THIS MOVING FORWARD, BUT THIS IS A GREAT START...
There are many ways out there to keep your Spanish fresh, figure out what works best for you!
Language Lessons
- Duolingo
- Duolingo is a free app/website were you can do mini lessons. If you want to get more out of it click on the lesson tips! They will explain the grammar behind each lesson.
- Rosetta Stone
- Rosetta stone is currently offering three months free for students! This is a similar program to Duolingo but has a little more meat to it.
- Studyspanish.com
- Study Spanish is provides written explanations for various grammar points. This isn't the best place to pick up vocab, but if you want clear cut grammar this is great! It has self-grading exercises for you to practice with.
- Spanish4111.net
- Esmis loves this site because it has everything. It lets you practice grammar, vocabulary and everything else from basic up through the most advanced. It also lets you submit practice work directly to email. We´ve already used it before in class so most of you know how to navigate here. If you need any help, just text me on remind or shoot me an email.
Listening Practice
- Tunein Radio
- Using this app (or any app you like) you can find radio channels from specific countries/cities. You can choose a music station and find out what's popular in the country of your choice or you can listen to talk radio and try to figure out local accents!
- Senorita Conger's Spotify Playlist
- What!?! This amazing Senorita has generously curated a list of awesome songs in Spanish! What great music selections! This is the playlist that Srta. Conger often has playing between classes and includes many class favorites. It is similar to what Esmis has on his Amazon playlist, only with less Jazz and other BOOMER stuff! ¡Ja, ja ja! Feel free to discover your own favorite artists and songs as well.
Videos
- Senor Wooly
- Is anyone surprised this is on the list? Senor Wooly has lots of great videos for you to watch! Most of you already have accounts linked to my classes. If you would like to set up an account for his website shoot me an email and I'll send you a link to create one.
- Las noticias/BBC Mundo
- Want to know about current events from a different cultural lens? Check out news stations on Youtube. You can slow down the video to an appropriate speed for you level. I personally like CNN en Espanol and BBC Mundo but feel free to check out a specific countries channels!
- Video Streaming
- That's right, Esmis wants you to binge watch Netflix, but with SPANISH AUDIO AND SPANISH SUBTITLES TURNED ON WHENEVER POSSIBLE! There are lots of great options out there right now on the various streaming platforms. However, when I first started practicing Spanish I didn't jump straight into authentic materials. I would watch my favorite movies with audio in Spanish. I knew the stories really well and didn't have to worry about the lips not matching the voices! If you would like recommendations on something authentic to watch shoot me an email or a text on remind and I'm happy to make some suggestions!
Reading
- Short Novels
- Some very generous authors (including Senor Wooly) have made versions of their short novels free for students. Señorita Conger has copies that We'd love to share with you! Just send me an email!
- Revista Literal
- This is a magazine en espanol by students for students. There's lots of short stories for you to read.
- Cuidad Seva
